    Breed Your "Pet" Snake?

Hey guys, I'm gonna be getting back into herping this summer and I've decided completely on corns-- I was at first thinking of getting a ball or red tail, but it's corns for sure now. I'm gonna pick up my snake(s) from the Texas Reptile Expo in July but my question was: (It's pretty lengthy.)...

    Back In The Game

Hey all, Haven't posted here in a while, but since I'm going to be back into herping, I figured I might. Used to be decently active on this board and had a motley corn for a year and a half and an ball python for about 8 months before mom had to go berzerk for no reason and make me give them to...

    Rep. Power and Reputaion Points?

What are these? By Rep. Points, I mean the little number by the green thing under your user name. Why and how does it go up or down? And the little scale at the bottom say something about reputation points when I click on it. Something about adding to someone's reputation. Can someone explan...

Algae or a REALLY Nasty Tick Infestation

I was doing a regular spot cleaning today when I noticed a TON of green little spots in the corn's cage. They were all clenched to the pieces of aspen around the water bowl. I've kept fish before so I assumed that it might've been algae. They were green, ~2mm wide, and not moving. I didn't find...

    Ball Python Feeding Question

I have a 3 month old ball python that I got a month ago. It's pretty healhy, never refused a meal and already shed one (with a little assist). I've been feeding her a hopper every Tuesday (once every 7 days) but I just found feces today and it's only two days away from feeding? Is there anything...

    Boa Constrictor Values

Right now I keep snakes as pets, but I have a question concerning keeping them as investments. If I were to purchase a boa that was 100% het. for anery. ivory (currently 20", a little over a year old, and female) for $300, how much would this snake be worth in 2 years? 5 years? 10 Years? Also...

Updated Pics of Late '03 Motley

She's been getting pretty big over the summer while I was gone. I needed to run out my pinky supply so she's been eating like 3 or 4 a week. I think she can probably skip fuzzies. Are hoppers the size after fuzzies? I was able to take some close up shots.

    First Escapee

I can't believe it. When I thought nothing could go wrong, my snake escapes. Yes, the beloved Spitfire is now somewhere in the house. I've been searching frantically for the past two weeks. Worrying about the snake eating shouldn't really a problem, should it? I've read about traps that are...

Research Project on McGregor's Pit Viper

I am doing a research project on the McGregor's Pit Viper and needed some sites with info over theses snakes. If anyone could post some links, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, the scientific name for theses snakes are Trimeresurus McGregori. I could also use some pics. Thanks, Sam.

Do You Need a Heat Source?

I'm gonna be starting to add to my collection (getting a second snake next month). I was wondering, before you get to the point that you set up racks and have rolls of heat tape, doesn't it cost a ton to set up a viv for each snake? Lighting, vivs, etc. Right now I'm keeping my 4 month old corn...

How do you Brumate/Hibernate a Snake?

I've read the chapter a bunch of times in the CSM and I still can't understand it? Could someone explain to me how you would hibernate a snake? Are hibernating and burmating the same thing? And would you only hibernate or burmate your snake only for breeding?

    Do Corns Have "deadly" Venom?

I'm sure that somewhere I read that all snakes have venom but it's hust the the intensity isn't high enough to venomize prey. Or like the it was in their saliva or something. I have a hatchling the was chewing on my finger the other day because it was right out of the mouse water (my finger). It...

    Cloudy Eyes

This is so cool! It's the first time I ever saw it too. I was picking up the snake yesterday when I noticed that it had cloudy eyes. I also noticed that the skin was somewhat darker. I guess I'll be expecting a shed in the next few days.
