Christmas hypos

Any pictures of christmas hypos out there? I've got my big boy Lola (sex-changeling snakie, bought as female but turned out to be as male as they come!) I paired him with Pearl my anery blood and have a trio of yearling keepers. I'm aiming for christmas bloods, I want to see the cherry red of Lola's saddles, diffused. (I didn't have a blood female old enough to breed, which means I may get christmas ghosts and -long shot odds - christmas ghost bloods too)

Thanks! I'm sure there was a member on here who'd done a christmas hypo/anery combo, but I've never seen pictuures of the results.

I know that Joe Pierce did chrismas anerys. He showed them on the other forum, but in my opinion they didn't look different like regular hypoA ghosts :shrugs: I've just seen them as babys, maybe they develop in something crazy when they mature :shrugs:

Thanks. I did some searching and found dionythicus had a Joe Pierce christmas hypo ghost for sale before.

IIRC from the other site, Christmas Hypo is just a version of Hypo A which, when paired with a Ghost, produced Hypos from light to the darker red in color...

I have been reading up on this is as well. Joe Pierce has discussed this a little on his own personal forum, before it was omitted from CS.com, and elsewhere. (PM sent). I will let you read it and make your own hypothesis and then we can hopefully discuss it more. Here are a couple of pictures of the two we own/ed. One of the girls we had (we just sold) is het Amel, Anery. We kept a couple of Ghosts from her last breeding that seem just a little different in coloration then what a regular Ghost would/should look like. Then again this could be explained as just another variance in color from Ghost line to Ghost line. :shrugs: We will have to see what they turn into as they grow. Here is her picture.


The second girl we still have in inventory has me a little more intrigued as she is het Lavender, Stripe. Maybe, when paired with the right male, she will throw some babies that will be more identifiable as a "Christmas" mutaion. Who knows, we will have to see next spring. "Rosie" did have some deep red coloration to her saddles but "Holly" is definitely more saturated and is more rich in color. Here is a picture of "Holly" so you can see what I mean. The one thing that I do notice between the two is even though they both have a reduction in saddle border pigment it is not black but more like a dark hunter green in coloration. Is yours like this as well?

I'll have to try to get some good daylight pictures of Lola to show you. I'm generally not happy with pictures of him using flash, the colour balance comes out wrong. Your girls appear to have the deep rich tones that Lola has, and depending on how the light catches him, his saddle borders are bronze/green rather than black/brown. I have 1.1 adult Christmas hypos and 2.0 Christmas/anery. I bred the female Christmas with a blood het amel/hypo A and it turned out that not only is the Christmas het for amel, but the two hypos are compatible. Christmas is a different looking version of hypo A. The Christmas/anery's that I have aren't too different from light, pinkish tinged ghosts. They are pretty, but not noticably different from normal ghosts.

The babies from the Christmas/blood breeding have a very Christmas hypo look to them. The amels are really red, as well. The normals are even more red than I usually see in normals. I'm keeping back most, if not all of them, to see the changes as they grow. I will try to get pics of them, they just had their fourth shed and are really looking good!

I think you really need to donate one of your Christmas hypos results from your project to me! ( Once I get a spare tank that is. ) Don't worry. You have time!;-)

Christmas Hypo/het lavender

Hey Jay the picture you have of Holly could be a dead ringer for my pair. I got a pair of Christmas Hypos/het lavender from Poppycorns and they look exactly like your picture, I LOVE them. I'm hoping to breed them next spring if my female gets a bit more size on her otherwise will have to wait till 2011.

And I'm even happier to find that the christmas hypo isn't 'just' hypo a, but an allele. I'm staking my limited rack space on the christmas blood being different to fires!

I hope you get them - and I hope the pictures turn out well! I like the look of Christmas corns but they seem challenging to photograph.

I'd be interested in seeing the links to any or all Christmas info. If anyone has any more background or info. on these guys you think I may not have PLEASE send it my way! I had bought and sold some Christmas up here and was pretty disappointed with most. There is a pair I have now though that might be worth considering keeping. The male is the regular Christmas and the female an amel christmas. Or at least thats how they were labeled when I got 'em! lol!
