I can't imagine that this is scale rot, because ..
I use wetboxes and they lay there
1. when they are ready to shed and
2. when they diggest, so about,... very often !
My 30+ snakes never have this damage from laying to wet... I use natural enclosure as rack boxes and never seen a form of rotting scales in my house
but never say never, I don't saw scale rot, I never have had it yet *knocking on wood* This would not mean that it doesn't exist !
What I can imagine is, a stuck shed from the last shedding, or a little bit to near on the heat lamp...

2 - yes, it should be gone with the next shed
