Has anyone ever found these in the water before? What are they? Could the pet store mice have been carrying these in their system?

Hmm interesting. ... I'm not using moss or aspen... I'm using a prepackaged medium size bark as substrate. .. hopefully it was just something that got caught in there ... I always clean the tank to the point where it's just me and the glass and some water left.My guess would be it's in the moss or Aspen you're using. It's not unheard of to find spiders, flies, beetles, and various critters in packaged bedding. If you're feeding frozen/thawed mice, you'll not see that, and even feeding live mice I've never seen anything like that on them before. I've seen ticks and mites on mice but not that. And for the record, that is not a worm. It has legs. It is a larvae of some sort, probably some kind of fly or beetle.
There was about 4 or 5Was there just the one? That looks like some kind of beetle larva. Definitely something that could have come out of a mouse or a snake.
