New owner, Slight concern

Hey guys, I have recently moved out/away from my parents house for school, and i made a friend who is into anything that has to do with aquariums, when i discovered he had corn snakes, it made me remember that i had always wanted one of these beauties. With-in the next 3 days, i had gone out and purchased a nice 20 gallon tank with a heating pad, water dish and 2 hides, one for each side. I also picked up a beautiful Miami Corn snake. At this particular store, the prices for the corns were extremely high, i recieved mine for 45$ due to the fact i was buying a starter kit, they're regular 90$. So i did some exploring and found this amazing little reptile shop, and when i saw their corns, i instantly fell in love, and ended up going home with a beautiful Snow, and Charcoal Anery. My concern is the Snow and the Anery, were bred by the owner of the store, and they are very very friendly and active, the snow would slither around and explore the cage, look over at me, come up to the glass, watch what im doing then go back to playing, and the Anery was very similar to this. however the Miami, ran straight for the hide, i've given them a few days to settle in, and every time i reach in for the miami he gets as tightly coiled up as can be, he has not made any attempt to strike or anything, just all he does is hide away in his cave. He devoured his first f/t pinkie, so he is eating fine, im just concerned about how he just hides away and coils right up, while the other 2 are active and friendly as can be. I kind of have a feeling that the store i got the Miami at doesn't treat their 'Animals' as well because they have so many where as the store i got my snow and anery at are bred by the owner so maybe he takes a little better care of them?

Sorry for the big long story, i'm not overly worried, they're still just little and i know as they get older they will become more comfortable, maybe he's just a shy one :)

I will have pictures up ASAP!

Also, I can't think of any good names.. suggestions?

Male Snow
Male Miami
Female Charcoal Anery.

Thankyouu :)

Probably just shy. If he's eating and pooping ok, he's probably healthy. Are you housing them all together? This is one factor that could be stressing him out. Corns don't like company.

My hatchling amel spends a lot of time hiding, but he's quite chill once i pick him up.

Some corns are super curious like the snow and anery, and some are ball python type shy, like the miami. Don't worry. And, as they're young, the miami should get comfortable with you and grow out of the shyness.

They are all currently being housed together, I'm currently visiting my parents, but i got a text saying that the Snow and Anery are coiled up together with the miami snuggled in there too, I do know these snakes can become Cannibals, and i'm in the process of getting a 75 gallon tank, and using the 20 gallon for breeding (in future years) however, they're just little guys right now so i'm not worried about cannibalism yet, and it sounds like they're tolerating eachother now :)

Yes, The guy i purchased the Snow and Anery from sexed them for me, and i brought the Miami in the next day to be Sexed:

Snow = Male
Miami = Male
Anery = Female

I'm also Curious as to what kind of hatchlings i may get if i bred the Snow with the Anery, Or the Miami with the Anery.

*edit.

In regards to breeding, in the future, the owner of the store i purchased them from said he would buy hatchlings and eggs that are in good condition, so i do have a place for the little guys to go if i do end up breeding. But for now, i'm just gonna see how i like having 3 snakes :)

If you house them all together, the female will end up with eggs before she is ready. If she's not big enough, laying eggs can cause serious problems as it takes a lot out of them. Not sure if anyone has had problems housing 2 males together, but I think you would be better off purchasing 2 more 20L vivs rather than one big one, but that's just my two cents. Again, I would read some cohabbing threads.

I think i'll be going out tomorrow and grabbing another 20 gallon, i don't want any harm to come to my little girl :( and thanks! i will be taking pictures when i go back this weekend :) I never could have thought corn snakes could be so addicting... I want to get my hands on a Blizzard corn, but all the stores here have to order specially. And i don't have the money for that just yet :(

Haha, I think we all know what you mean by addicting. Only had my baby for a month and I already have plans for more snakes.

If you want a blizzard consider going to an expo if one comes your way. You can get some great deals and see loads of interesting animals.

Also consider adding some hides in with the males for now. Nothing fancy, just so they don't have to compete. I use upside down flower pots, but you could also make some out if butter tubs.

Also make sure you feed them in separate containers.

Haha, I sound so demanding. Just want your buddies to have the best. =]

yes, actually all 3 of them are under 1 ft long, theyre just tiny little things right now, the female is the largest she might be about a foot or so, but she is shedding so i didn't want to disturb her, i haven't even handled her yet cause she was blue when i got her home. currently i have a fairly large 'cave' hide, that easily fits all 3 on the side with the heat pad, and another hide designed like a fallen tree/log few different holes they can go in and play around, and in the middle they have some fake plant stuff they like to hide under :) i'll get pictures up ASAP! (wont be with them again til the weekend though :(
