Fresh New Eggs for 2012!

I've got a fresh batch of new eggs for the upcoming season. Seems I have a gap between my females. One group shed and bred right out of brumation, and I have another group that don't even appear to be thinking about shedding . . . might give them all a breeding try this week just to see what happens.

Anyway, here's what has been officially laid so far. No slugs so far (knock on wood) just one questionable egg.

Amel Motley:

Both Normals with some project hets. Crossing fingers on these two!

Fresh laid today, Normal that gives me great Lavender Bloodreds:

Thanks for checking things out,
D80

Thanks for the love. It's been a pretty good start to the year. In more ways than one.

Thanks,

I'm soooooooo jealous this season. I couldn't get a hold of a female for my boy. My snow female is too small at 150 grams.

BUT I get to see what yous are bringing in this year and it makes me smile.

Congrats

First thing would be to determine if they are fertile or not. Unfertile eggs are slimy looking. Fertile eggs are typically nice bright white and smooth/soft looking . . . like a marshmallow.

If they are fertile, the simplest thing is to put them in a container with an air hole or two and some type of moistened medium that will help maintain humidity. I use orchid moss (sphagnum moss that is clean) but have used paper towel in the past.

If you don't want to go through the trials and tribulations of the process don't feel bad about throwing them out.

That's the simplest answers. There are threads around here that can go into some very detailed information for you if you have the time to search.

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply I have them in a container (with air holes) with moss with temp at 83oF they are fetile, but 2 have gone bad so I've chucked them out. They are getting dimples is that normal?

It is normal as they get close to hatching (60-65 days) but at this early point would indicate they are getting a bit dry. Give the medium a little shot of water to bring up the humidity.
