Oh man, what a great day of Herping

onelifetolive45

Too many to choose from!!
Well today was supposed to be in the 70's and sunny, so what was a group of Bio students supposed to do on a free sunday? HERP!!!! We found 4 adult timber rattlesnakes(Crotalus horridus) we could only get pictures of two of them, the other two were deep in rock crevices, 6-8 hatchlings, 1 hatchling Northern Copperhead(agkistrodon contortrix mokasen), 1 black ratsnake(Elaphe obsoleta) which we couldn't catch up with to photograph, countless North American Toads(Bufo americanus), a ridiculous amount of Redback Salamanders(Plethodon cinereus), and a baby Slimy Salamander(Plethodon glutinosus). Enjoy!!!

Congrats on the great day! Sounds like conditions were perfect and I'm definitely jealous lol. It was hot as hell while I was out today and ya'll had a lot more luck. Great shots!

I can only add my congrats to what looks like a profitable days herping with some georgeous finds.

Incidentally, I have been asked to go and clear out a 3 Acre plot of land in the Kwazulu Natal Midlands of a Puff Adder infestation. Should be an interesting day with many other species to be found in that area.

The date has been set for 17th October 2009, will post whatever is found on the 19th October 2009.

Once again, well done.

Ciao
