Advice??

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all the advice. I think I'm going to pick up 5 fancy mice tomorrow from the small pet store I found, keep them in the same 15 gal. I will change the food and the substrate; who knows perhaps that was the problem. I know it can take months to start up a colony so we'll see how it goes from there.

Thanks again everyone!! I will keep you guys posted.

Well, all advice should be taken with a grain of salt..... such as... taking out the males when the females are pregnant.

I never seperate colonies once they are set up. Might take a little time but once they are bonded, it is best to not seperate them. That is my opinion and my experience.

You are so right Cateyedlady. Do not break the colony up. Females will share raising the pinkies and it can be tough to reintroduce females back in a colony.
If you are raising for pets I might see you seperating them to keep from back to back pregnancys but since I raise them mostly for food, I dont seperate.
