Decided to start progression on Amels

harm781

Harmoni
Okay this is my first progression thread. I have two young Amels. Candy I have had for 4 weeks. She has orange saddles with a couple zigzags. She seems to have adjusted well and likes being held, will nest right in your hand so placidly. Licorice still needs to adjust a little. Fed her twice the first week I had her and into the second week she went into blue. She shed last night for me. I've only had her 2 1/2 weeks and less then a couple days to handle her. Candy is the first two pictures Licorice with her bright reds is the next few.

Candy's Pattern

Wanted to add close up of Candy's pattern. I have no idea what her genetics are. I do want to guess she may be het. motley she has very little belly pattern and you can see her unique pattern in the pic. Hopefully by the time she is ready to breed I'll have some kind of motley to test breed her to. Enjoy.

My amel also has very little belly pattern... she looks so much like Candy! You have very beautiful little snakes there!

Hi, I had to check out your collection. Those are both nice Amels. Candy is a really nice orange ( could indicate het Caramel)! How much belly pattern does she have? She could be full motley. I bought an 'amel het motely' online and when I got her she was a full on motley! ( kinda an easy mistake with amels that don't have a strongly spotted motley pattern and their belly scute patterning are hard to see at that age) I was pretty happy and she'll be breeding for me this coming year.

Candy's belly pattern is a little sparse I thought of her being het. motley never considered het caramel when I compare her to Licorice they are total opposite Amels 1 being orange the other red. Will have to find out in another 2 to 3 years ;)

Wanted to include some of Licorice & Candy in the same group. I was sold Candy as an amel & Licorice as a red albino. I thought both were the same? I know nothing of their genetics so it'll be interesting when they get breeding size. Maybe Candy is het caramel? Hope everyone enjoys my babies as much as me.

Well Licorice shed tonight. She was in blue almost 2 weeks & I fed her twice first time gave her 1 pinky the next feeding since she did fine with the one while in blue I gave her double pinks(yesterday)and she ate no problem. I weighed her tonight and she's 31 grams! A big difference from her first weigh in with me at only 11 grams. Candy had a regurge a couple of weeks ago when I upped her to 2 pinks so I'm trying not to handle to much just got her up to one large pink after feeding 3 times and a refusal in between so I'll wait to weigh her and pictures till fully recovered. So heres some of Licorice on my girls barbie couch cruising around.

Harmoni, Licorice is getting big and looking almost like a flourescent amel, pretty girl. Can't wait to see pcis of Candy to see if she coloring up more orange and yellow.

You're right they are the same, was it the same seller that told you that? weird.

I made a purchase through reptile depot & after 1 week called since I still hadn't received my snake(bought before I discovered this site)and the guy from shipping assured me my snake would go out that night(received candy next morning), well 2 weeks later I get an email from fedex with tracking # come to find out reptile depot never marked my first order as shipped & sent me another snake(in my order I stated I wanted albino or amel didn't realize they were one in same)So I ended up with both no idea of breeder or hets? But if you go to reptile depot website they have 2 separate morphs one labeled as amel other as albino. They must get them from two different suppliers or they have different hets so look different & label them as different morphs? I did start a thread in oct. or nov. on how I received the freebee from reptile depot.
