Smile A chilly but productive field day

I did another field trip last Saturday. It was a very chilly day for July with temps only reaching 63 for a high but I found a surprising number of herptiles none-the-less.

Here's my tally for the day:
5 eastern garter snakes
1 brownsnake
2 redbellied snakes
1 spotted salamander
1 tiger salamander

I post the salamander photos later...

Awesome photos! That redbellied snake is so cute with his little short nose.

Thanks. The brownsnake had an injury, you can see it in the second photo. It had a small patch on it's back where it was missing some scales. I think maybe a bird or small animal attacked it. It was healing up and I think it will be fine after it sheds a few more times.
