This is why we shouldn't house more than 2 snakes together (Warning Photo)

Corn Manic
Sigh...
well this is what happens when you house more than one snake together with another one....Cannibalism...who says corn snakes aren't cannibalistic?

This little accident happened today when I was looking at my snakes (another feeding day) and I found this one with a huge meal......both were non eating snakes.....well I guess now one is....

I would of separeated them all if they were eating.....but nope
hope this one will survive and not regurgitate the 'meal'......

So becareful for those of you who keep snakes together in one day......

My advice...one snake per enclsoure....

Damn that is scary,i use to keep my hatchlings together but last season never did,but ill never keep snakes together.

Non-feeders aren't the only ones.........

These two were on f/t pinks and fed separately. I found this one trying to regurge the other. I held the tail of the dead one and the other was able to complete the regure. I figured it would have died if left on it's own.

Wow....Clint...how did you find that it was trying to regurt? I mean I know you have tons of snakes...and finding it was nearly impossible...how did you do it? Good thing that you found out during the regurt or else it's really going to smell real bad~

Oh yeah here is the result of the photo above.
She managed to keep it down and what's even better is that she pooped it out.

In a way....it's a good thing that it has passed it through alright.

Here is a more clear image on the snake poop....and you can actually see that it's not really that digested properly and you can still see the checkering of the other snake's belly....

This is the tail portion of the snake (I think...at least it looks like it)

Have fun~
sorry about the gross pictures~

I found it........

I found it while checking water dishes. I believe it was in the process of trying to swallow it but regurged when I disturbed it. I doubt it would have been able to swallow the whole thing. It most likely would have died with the dead one half ingested.
It has since fed on pinkies so I think it will do just fine.
At least yours got some nurishment from it's victim.

man~
you were lucky~
good thing that you got the little bugger before it regurgitated or even worse...both of them dying......
I was lucky this time...I hope that I don't ever have to deal with something like this again.....geeze....

hmmm...this year I also had 4 cases.

1. in a group of good eating animals 7 days after the last meal.
but I saw it when it happend so I could separate them.
2. I took a yearling out of the rack too ckeck it. when I put it back another one thought this might be a mice...
3. in a group of non feeders someone tried it but I also saw that just in time.
4. someone visits me and while feeding my snakes I told him about the last 3 cases and suddenly he said: "hmmmm, they tried to eat each other? like these are over there ???"
... and showed with the finger on a rack that I feed the minute bevore!!!

so 4 times I had good luck that nothing happends ... !!!

that´s why i keep all my keppers alone :D

pewter,

you are indeed quite lucky! Its a good thing that I only have 1 eat another one....sigh....in a sense it's good.....

Those hatchlings I do feed in the same enclosure like you too but I always do it at night time so no one would be coming up and bothering me while feeding (thus I watch them eat so that they don't eat the same pinky and end up eating one another...

You were lucky~ but remmeber to always keep your eyes on the snake~

no, I feed them allways separated! but when you put them back in one rack they sometimes want more!

oh~
lol..my mistake...sorry about that...lol..

I guess it's the smell that they smelled on each other than~
sorry for the mistake~

for some reason those pics arent showing up on my screen.....good thing they didnt lol i was in the process of eating breakfast lol :)
