I built these for some local people. They are pretty easy to build, just a little time consuming..........

If any of you are in my area and looking to out something together, let me know. I could help you out

They look like a pretty good size. How are you heating them?

I like the ""drop down"" door, it give you full acces to the inside.

Those are beautiful! If only I lived in MN, I'd give you a call, because I'm looking for a bigger viv for my boa constrictor.....

Oh, well, have to keep looking.

Most of them are heated basking/heat lights. Some of them have belly heat or a strip of heat tape down the back, all heat tape is concealed. I haven't heard back from anybody having issues with their snakes burning themselves on the bulbs. You could also put in a "false" ceiling and use glass to keep animals away from the heat source.

Thanks for the comments!

Kronos, unfortunately I didn't take any progression pics. However, if you are feeling up to building a viv for your boa, I could walk you through the steps. PM me if you're interested

Maybe the next time I build a viv I might just hit ya up on that :D Those look great. For some some one who has never built a viv before that is a awsome offer, just having some one to help you design it and build it (well, not in person any way. unless you live close to him) is pretty cool. Next time I build a viv I might talk to you about it while designing it. I think I have every thing planned out on mine now except for the door which I think I know what im going to do.

Thats nice of you to offer to help people design there own vivs :D I know later on when I build my next I may hit you up on that offer lol.

Not a problem. I wouldn't have near as many corns as I do without being able to save some $$ on their caging. I'm more than happy to help others save on caging so they can enjoy their herps more.

Could you post some dimensions of the top picture. I'm thinking about building something like that for my snakes and was curious how big it was.

I believe the cages in the top pic are 3 ft by 18 inches tall, but the whole unit is 18 ft long. One of the advantages to building your own cages is they can be any dimension you want.

Awesome job man! I wish i had the space and £££ to be able to do this! I love carpentry and would love to make a multi cage system like your's! I made this one on a budget and in cramped conditions so it didn't turn out 100% perfect for my liking but it's ok!

fatman how did you do your glass doors? sliding or do they have a frame or something else? cant quite tell from the pic

sliding doors are nice! Not too hard to do either, you can get the track online for either 1/8 in glass or 1/4in. glass. then you have to find a local glass shop to cut what you need.

fatman, what did you make your cages out of?

Basic 2 by 1 frame with T&G on the outside and plywood on the inside! I made the sides, top, middle, bottom then screwed them all together! A friend of mine works for a glass company so was able to get that cheap!
Once it was all complete i covered it in fabron to make it look cool!

Heres a few pics!
