Is this normal??

My young corn snake had a very odd place he likes to sit, I'll add a photo of him sat in the air vent right at the top of his viv!

Temp on the warm side 28.6
Humidity 50%
Cool side is room temp

Is he just being a bit of a fruitcake or am I missing something?

He likes his spot. Neither too hot or too cool, and he feels safe.

they love tight fitting places. Plus, he's probably a goofball. Most corn snakes are. Mine is just downright silly and will crawl into any nook or cranny he can find, and then stick his head out and look at me.

The picture I'm enclosing is about a year old now, but he sat like that for about an hour before I finally had to coax him out.

Your temps are not bad, you stated 28.6 warm side and cool side is room temp. "Room Temp" can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people.

I keep my warm spot at around 85F (30c) and the cool side stays around 73F (23c).

At this very moment, it's 28.9 warm and 22.3 cool

Also, the "Warm Temp" should be measured inside the hiding spot on the warm end of the cage.
