LED lighting.

I just finished my first vivarium a few days ago and have a question about lighting.

I wanted a Red LED to simulate day & a Blue LED for night (until i go to sleep then complete darkness.) Im no electrician so haven't got a clue how to do it, can anyone tell me what i would need to get so i could wire up two lights to the mains supply, and if its possible have them change over automatically. Would i need 2 timer plugs for the lights to plug into to do that?
I'd rather have just one plug for both the lights but if 2 are needed then that will have to do. Many thanks.

I use red at night, in the evening. It's not good for the colors. but it doesn't affect my snake's wandering at night and we can see her better.
I'm a reuser so my lights came from a malfunctioning Peterbuilt truck taillight. In the lamp they had resistors in line to current-protect the LEDS, I just used the ones that were there. Also LEDs, being diodes, are polarity sensitive and can burn out instantly if they are hooked up backwards.
I'm pretty sure you can buy pre-wired set-ups, that might be best and easiest.
I have seen some timers with two seperate switches, I can't remember where, but I know they are available.

I found an all in one type thing for my lighting and its pretty good, wasnt as much as i thought it would be either, if anyone needs something to light up there vivarium this is what i purchased http://www.reptile-food-direct.co.uk..._Lighting.html i got the Lucky Reptile Night Sky LED Set and the extension too, if any one is thinking of getting this its pretty good a nice bright blue lighting kit & the extension is one extra LED which comes on a wire with a little clip so u just plug in and turn it on, its very easy to install in the vivarium.

Probably easiest thing to do would be to just get some LED rope lighting or something already wired up. Then get two light timers and have one be on one timer and the other be on the 2nd timer. Then just adjust them so they turn on/off when you want them to.
