I think the rodent is a kangaroo rat-neat little creature, and usually hard to see. They're nervous and jumpy, and spend a lot of time underground.

Wonderful pictures! I miss the SW lizards just out basking around.

Looks like you spent some time in either Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire .... my neck 'o the woods! I used to catch chuckwallas and horned toads in Valley of Fire when I lived near there. Cool stuff! : )

nice pics. I see a lot of horned lizards around here too. used to have a few but I felt bad for keepin them caged and let em go.

Thanks for taking us along with you. Your trip reminds me of my younger days when I lived in the Mojave Dessert. Most of your finds also live there.

Nothing adds to this hobby more than field collecting/observing.
