Agreed, he's adult-sized so would usually be eating one adult mouse every week to ten days, unless he has some sort of aversion to them. You do occasionally find the odd Corn that refuses to eat anything bigger than a fuzzy, but I assume the shopkeeper didn't mention anything about it being a "special needs" case?
Apart from that consideration, I'd agree that the shop may have a hidden agenda. It would cost much more to buy four fuzzies a week than it would to buy one mouse a week.
As he's not used to mice, I'd work him up gradually - try him with a small mouse once he's settled in, then move up to medium after a couple of feeds and then try a normal adult mouse a couple of feeds after that.
