Strange Behavior

Hey everyone. My snakes kind of freaked me out a little last night. First off, I house three '00 born corns together and I house an older 3 or 4 year old by himself. The older one is a male and the other three are 1.1.1.

Now, I took the older male and the unsexed snake out of their cages and introduced them to each other in a seperate tank. The older male made strange twitching behaviors. He continued this for some time. Quite a few minutes until he eventually wondering up the side of the tank to attempt an escape. Was this breeding behavior? He never really tried to "mount" th other snake. Were the both males?

Once he tried to leave, I put them back in their cage. When the unsexed '00 was put back, the male '00 in her cage especially went crazy trying to escape along all of the walls. He also tried to like push his way through the glass a bit, not injuring himself. The unsexed one also acted really hyper as well. What was this caused by?

I'm really interested... I want to try breeding some time soon. I'm npot sure if the snakes will participate this year, but maybe next. Was any of this breeding behavior? Anything to be concerned about? Any tips for next time? I hope enough of you respond to help me out somewhat. Thanks in advance. :)

Sounds like the typical behavior I have witnessed any time I put 2 snakes together for any reason, male/male, male/female - breeding or not. and female/female. I think it's the snakes way of dealing with another snake until it knows whether to breed, fight, run, or just settle down. When you put the one younger snake back with it's cage-mates, they could smell the older snake on it, and that snake had to again re-adjust itself back into it's home. Some snakes take longer to adjust to a new situation than others. I've seen some "run around", trying to excape for hours. By the next morning, all are curled up together.

I agree with Susan.....

Sounds like normal snake communication to me. But I keep all of my snakes separate until it's time to breed so I can't be of much help.
