Scale Rot - Can You Confirm?

Hello everyone!

As you can see, I am brand new in this Forum.

I have this male Cornsnake that is about to complete 2 years old very soon.
Just recently we noticed these strange spots/stains in his scales.

He has the (bad) habit to flip his water bowl and soak the aspen. So I suspect that this might be scale rot.

Naturally, we already changed the owl for something unflipable.
But since this is the very first time I suspect of scale rot and I never seen one live before, I'd like to ask you guys if, based on these pictures, this does look like scale rot to you.

Scale rot usually affects the bottom scales, not the top. Those could be abrasions from sharp edges in the tank decor.

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

However, if I google image “corn snake scale rot” around 90% of the results are not bottom scales and unfortunately some of the pictures really look like with those.

I did the same google search terms... and the few corn snakes with actual scale rot, show the bottom of the snake. Also bps with scale rot, again on the belly scales.
 
It also looks like a 'heat accident' or a damage from 'rubbing' around...
be sure the heat lamp is with a protection when its in the enclosure

I have two follow up questions that maybe you could help me with.

1) Bottom scales or not, can this be scale rot? Is it a possibility?

2) If it is heat damage or abrasion, will it go away with shedding?

I can't imagine that this is scale rot, because ..

I use wetboxes and they lay there
1. when they are ready to shed and
2. when they diggest, so about,... very often ! ;)

My 30+ snakes never have this damage from laying to wet... I use natural enclosure as rack boxes and never seen a form of rotting scales in my house
but never say never, I don't saw scale rot, I never have had it yet *knocking on wood* This would not mean that it doesn't exist !

What I can imagine is, a stuck shed from the last shedding, or a little bit to near on the heat lamp...
and at last

2 - yes, it should be gone with the next shed
