My corn snake Ruby kills Adult male mouse.

Teenage asshat getting rocks = the OP, not you

Emily = you (and me, but not in this case)

She was addressing you, but referring the OP's video and to the OP as the asshat.

Correct me if I'm wrong, starsevol, but that's how I read it?

Yup, that's EXACTLY right!
You get the gold star..or in this case, the gold snake! :)

You know, the more you say, "I'm just a country girl!" as your reasoning for how you treat animals is pretty sad, and gives "country girls" all over a bad name.

Most people who live on farms, who hunt, and live in the country have a respect for animals of all sizes, which you completely seem to lack.

It's "just" a mouse, it's "just" a lizard. It is a life. You're a pretty messed up person if you deliberately drag their deaths out for your enjoyment, because you think it's "cool".

:):):):):)

I also hunt but I prefer to make a clean kill rather than watching animal kibby out, bleat and scream before it dies or I have to do something about it. It doesn't please me to take a life even though I hunt or sometimes raise my own meat but I understand the need to feed..
First, It doesn't PLEASE me to take a life, but it doesn't BOTHER me in the least. I once shot a young doe, wounded her (accidently) and she rolled and hollered across the road for about five minutes before I could get another clean shot. Yes, I was upset I missed but I'm not gonna start crying and say "Aw, that poor poor deer. I wish I could just make it better." I am gonna wait until I can get a clean shot and end its suffering as soon as I can. I do not enjoy wounding them, but I do not get tore up about it.

Hope your safe in the woods while you enjoy watching something die. Hope your a responsible hunter and not one of these mix drink/pill pooping weirdo's that ruin it for other who actually enjoy sitting in the woods only to get lucky to bring something home to the table...

As I said before, I do not enjoy it. And thanks for wishing me safety :) And I am a very responsible hunter. Extremely. I enjoy sitting in the woods hunting more than anything. I am not a pill popper. I am a 17 year old girl, who is a cheerleader, hunter, college student and devout Christian...So I am normal, not crazy. I am not ruining a thing at all.

I agree with safety, not so much with it being humane. F/T are gassed to death. I don't care either way, its just a mouse.

Sleepy death, or crushed? Hmmm, which is better? (Come on, now...) Regardless of whether you care about the mouse or not, one is undeniably less painful and frightening.

As for me being country, I am saying that because I did play outside alot. With bugs and other things. IMO, I did nothing cruel ot inhumane. I killed a slug, who cares? How many ants have you stepped on? How many burgers have you ate? How many spiders ect have you smooshed?

I played outside all the time and didn't kill things... I caught things, I looked at things - I didn't kill them. I was the bug master, back in the day - but not the bug killer.

Coincidently, I don't crush ants on purpose, and I prefer my meat from humanely-raised and killed sources.

No one is debating that there can be a time and place for killing - we're just debating that it should be done as carefully and humanely as possible regardless of the animal, whereas you don't care as long as the creature being killed isn't something you personally value.

Actually, I have killede animals that I personally value. I bottled raised a calf once, ate him about 6 months later. A baby pig lived in my room, cared for by me, for 4 months. She was the best bacon I ever ate :D :D

**I Quote**

Okay, so I just stumbled across this thread...and have a few things to say :)

1. Feeding live is not "sick." I think its amazing to watch a snake attack and kill an anole the way it would in the wild. Its enjoyable.

2. I love to hunt. I enjoy killing deer, it makes me happy. It also makes MANY other people happy. This is no different from feeding your snakes live food (besides it being dangerous)

3. I couldn't watch the video, but from what everyone is saying...he just fed his snake live and liked it. So...? Whats the big deal? Its just a mouse. They are just...mice. Not seeing what the big deal is between you killing them and the snake killing them (besides danger to your snake.)

4. I feed live anoles for a few reasons. One is because I enjoy giving my snakes something "different" now and then. Two is because I breed anoles. I freeze some, I feed fresh ones live. It gives my snake exersize, something to hunt, and a challenge. Its just a lizzard.

Anyway, not looking to get flamed...just pointing these things out and putting in my two cents.

Medusa Corns, you are right. Hunting is enjoyable. I love it, its my passion. I LOVE IT!! I will post some pictures later on in this thread.

And it is amazing watching a snake kill a mouse. Its so cool. Its something i would probably never see in my lifetime, and its cool to watch it in your own bedroom.

Here is a picture of me (when I was much younger) and a twelve point I killed at the deer lease :) It was a wonderful expeirene!

Also, as kids we put salt on slugs. It was kinda neat. We did it as a science expeirment to. They are just slugs.
We also burned ants with magnifing glasses. It was all we had to do really, and that does not make me sadistic, sick, or pathetic. Just a country girl who found fun in her own back yard.

So... you openly admit that you enjoyed the pain and suffering of other animals. Remember, a life is still a life, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. Do I have a problem killing mosquitos and spiders? Heck no. They're a nuisance. But why did the slug have to have salt put on it? Why did you have to burn the ants with a magnifying glass?

I'm sure living out in the country, there were all sort of other ways you could have preserved life, and not tortured it.

Okay, Robbie. I noticed a contridicting statement in your post.

You said first
Remember, a life is still a life, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant.
Then
Do I have a problem killing mosquitos and spiders? Heck no. They're a nuisance.

So...which is it?/

Also, IDK why I killed the slug and ants. I COULD have found other things to do, but I wanted to do that. So I did. Thats just the way it is. Its just a slug. Its just an ANT. Plus, I am allergic to them, so I kill all of them I see.

I dod not call it torture. You can call it that...but its not to me!

Wow you sound like a sociopath and I doubt you are but reread some of your statements. You could have found other things to do, but instead you killed bugs, you enjoy killing things, and you don't know why you get this feeling of enjoyment while killing you just do. Yes killing anything for any other reasons than eating it or protecting yourself is considered abnormal behavior and torturous. I collected bugs as a kid, studied them, and then released them but never killed them. My kids bring home bugs, we google them, talk about what we have learned, and let them go. Killing a mosquito that is sucking your blood is different than killing a bug because it is there and you have the opportunity. You have to understand why people find your joy in killing things strange its just not behavior the vast majority of people find interesting.

Actually, i am allergic to ants. So according to you, I can kill them with no problems.

Its not the fact that I enjoy killing them. It just DOESN't BOTHER ME. At all. Thats not strange.

I had no clue people could be allergic to ants it just doesn't make sense and in your previous reponse to Robbie you said: "Also, IDK why I killed the slug and ants. I COULD have found other things to do, but I wanted to do that. So I did. Thats just the way it is. Its just a slug. Its just an ANT. Plus, I am allergic to them, so I kill all of them I see.

I dod not call it torture. You can call it that...but its not to me"! You said I wanted indicating a choice you made and I say thats strange.

But anyway, this is a never ending argument.

I am saying that I will always hunt, i will always feed live, I will always be the way I am. Animals will never have the same, or close to the same, status as humans. I will always beleive what I do.

It may seem weird to most northern people, but I have received NUMEROUS PMs and Comments that say others agree with what I have to say and are glad I posted my opinion. So I will not back down, we will just have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.

I am NOT weird, strange, sadistic, pathetic, sick ect so please refrain from using those terms to discribe me. I said NOTHING like that in reply to all of you(and I Have wanted to!), so use the same respect when replying to me. Thanks in advance :)

I had no clue people could be allergic to ants
Well you have Maryland ants. We have Texas ants. They bite, are very poisonous, and very painful. We call them FIRE ANTS or COW ANTS. Very, very, painful. When I get bit, I swell up really badly.

And you can think my actions are strange, but to people down here...its not strange at all. If I told you some of the things people do around my town and stuff, you would rn to your room crying. Honestly.

I've killed and dressed rabbits for food, and while I found the process interesting, I never ENJOYED taking a life, and always tried to minimize the animals' suffering. I try to do the same in my life every day.

I buy mice from a place that gasses them rather than just sticking them in the freezer. When there were slugs in my garden I put out a bowl of beer so that at least they could die inebriated. ;) If I'm going to kill a bug that's in the house I do it quickly, and because I like spiders I will make an effort to take one outside before my husband whacks it with a shoe.

The thought that anyone could ENJOY the suffering of another animal, NO MATTER HOW SMALL, disgusts me. Yes, maybe it's "just" a mouse, but it feels pain and fear and I feel that I have a responsibility to minimize that if I can. And not only can I, it's EASY, and CHEAP to do. We both benefit. Like the rabbits, who I killed as quickly and humanely as I could. Then I had tasty beer braised rabbit. *drool*

I have experienced many a fire ant and yes they hurt and their venom can be poisonous. My point was that your love of the kill doesn't stop with fire ants or hunting for food, but mice, lizards, and bugs who according to you deserve less repect than a human. I do not put the little guys on quite the same playing field either Emily, but I don't condone feeding live for the thrill or killing something out of enjoyment. Obviously we differ here on that. However, don't kid yourself sweet pea I don't run and cry!!

Okay CEDUKE, You are saying its wrong of me to put salt on a slug...but its okay to kill them with beer. All I can say is...wow.

Also, I do not enjoy watching them suffer, as I have said before, it just does not concern or bother me. I stick my mice in the freezer/gas them/knock them in the head...whatever. I stick my anoles in the freezer or feed them live. Doesn't matter to me.

I DO NOT EVER PUPOSFULLY CAUSE PAIN WHEN I AM HUNTING. AS I HUNTER, I WANT TO MAKE A CLEAN, HONEST KILL AND TRY TO DO THAT.

I was FIVE when I did that to slugs, let it go. I was 5. Do not regret it or think its wrong, but I was young.

If one more person calls me disgusting, I am gonna be upset. I have asked numerous times to please refrain from calling me things like that. I have not called anyone anything on this thread, even when I have wanted to. Please return the favor. Thanks so much :)

who according to you deserve less repect than a human.
Actually, they do. They are animals, worlds apart from humans.

this one guy in our town...He raises dogs and kills them, skins them out, puts him in the freezer and eats them. Does the same with house cats.

And thats not even the worse. I'm not calling this good...but hey, if the world ever ran out of food, i would be staying at this guys house! lol
