Wild SD Card

Got this SD card for my camera for Christmas and it continues to amaze me. All I have to do is take a pic and the card wirelessly connects to my home network and put the pic into my computer. With this card it will also connect to "hot spots" and download to my computer and Geotagging which puts a location tag on the pic which (I haven't tried it yet cause of snow) could be good for herping.
I need to say the card is pretty expensive now but at the holiday day time it was about half of what it is know.
I just don't know how they get a tiny SD card to do all it does??????

Beats the heck outta me how they do it, but Z will want one, now. We do geocaching, and the camera he uses takes the SD cards, so this might be perfect for him :-).

Be careful, I think only the high end card does the Geotagging and reading further into it I found this so don't know if it would work out in the woods:

"so how does Eye-Fi’s Geotagging Service work?

Geotagging is made possible through Wi-Fi Positioning System (WPS) technology. Using built-in Wi-Fi, the Eye-Fi Card senses surrounding Wi-Fi networks as you take pictures. When photos are uploaded, the Eye-Fi Service then adds the geotags to your photos.
the technology behind WPS

Our partner, Skyhook Wireless, has mapped millions of geographic coordinates around the world. The Eye-Fi Service adds the geotag to each photo’s metadata section (the EXIF header) when photos are uploaded

Well, I'll at least show this thread to Z and see if he's interested. I'm the one who takes a camera everywhere we go (and the one with the more expensive camera that doesn't use SD cards), so I don't know if he'd be interested, but I would think he might be.

Since we go geocaching using a GPS, which will give coordinates almost anywhere, I guess that's probably more all-inclusive than the WPS?

evil if you don't know how to strip the geo-tags, cool to see on Flickr, though!

What the... cool! A card that copies the images put on it to my hard drive by itself would be wonderful.

Kinda freaky how they do these things though.

It's a 64 bit encrypted network but I think if someone where to see the pics they would be stunned. This time of year there is all sorts of snake porn on there.
