This I know, in theory, anyway. And hopefully I am prepared! Guess we'll see, this time next year ...

Indigo laid her first ever clutch sometime last night! She quite surprised me by laying 10 fertile eggs and no slugs, I was expecting a slightly smaller clutch, this being her first time.

Wow congrats! House snakes are some of my favourites, I'd love to get a pair eventually.

Thanks! Fingers crossed incubation goes well and that the babies will eat readily!

Candled the eggs and eight of them are developing very well! Although they look fertile from the outside, two of them seem to be bereft of veins though. Guess we will just have to wait and see with those two. Took some not great cell phone pics of them. Used the cell, as it was easier to manage that and the light than it would have been with the real camera.

Indigo full of eggs on 3/15/15.

And her second clutch laid 3/17/15. She laid 12 eggs this time.

The first clutch were laid 11/4/14 and started to hatch 1/11/15. I'm actually going to be incubating these at a little lower temp and am hoping it takes a little longer for them to hatch. The first clutch has not been good eaters, with only one eating consistently and just now 2 others have started to eat a little bit, although not consistently yet. Maybe letting them cook a little longer will help, figure it's worth trying anyway.
