Wink I almost ran him over

I was heading out herping this morning and I ended up making a wrong turn. To get back, I had to turn onto a road that I've never traveled before. I was probably traveling ~40 miles an hour when I noticed something in the road. I slowed down just in time to avoid running over this awesome bullsnake. What crazy dumb luck I've been having this year. After taking a few photos, I moved it on it's way.

The head shot was taken with a zoom lens, not a macro. I'm pretty impressed with the clarity of that lens.

What a beauty! Nice shots. You said you moved him out of the way...was he docile?

He didn't move at all while I photographed him other than sticking his tongue out. I picked him up about halfway down his body. He didn't hiss or attempt to bite.

I like how his body gets brighter the further down it goes.

Gorgeous! The few I ever found in MN were heating up on blacktop.
