Wink Painted turtle preparing to nest

I came across a number of nesting painted turtles today. This one was testing the ground. It later dug a hole, deposited eggs and carefully covered them up. Very cool to watch. I shot this with a telephoto so as not to disburb her. I should have shot some video, but to tell you the truth, I'm not sure how.

Not even the turtles were safe from the mosquiotos, if you look carefully, you might spot the little blood sucker on her nose. This turtle had very bright red coloration on her legs. I snapped a few photos before helping her cross the road.
