Basic care

I've been doing a lot of research lately on corn snakes. I'm completely new to keeping reptiles. I really just want to clear some things up that I have found, if I can get some peoples help! I have a 55 gallon I plan to use. It was recommended to me that I get a corn snake already feeding on fuzzies and around 1-2 feet long. I have list of supplies that I plan to get but the thing thats giving me the most trouble is the heating, so many people have so many different opinions and I just want the snake to be healthy and happy. So if I can just go over with someone step by step on the care, and actually get a direct answer I would be so grateful!!

Kaleb, people who know how to properly care for corn snakes don't have different opinions about heating. Rather than me or anyone else going step by step, Nanci has already posted a great caresheet for you to read. Just scroll down to the section called members forums and click on Nanci's Snickersnakes. Look for what she wrote about care of cornsnakes. That will answer most of your questions. Good luck, and remember this isn't rocket science. Corns have really basic needs, but proper heat is mandatory.

Thank you, sorry about that I tried looking a bit before I posted but I was still getting used to the app. I did find the care sheet but it wouldn't let me delete my post.

Oh and I meant people had different opinions on wether a heat pad or heat lamp is better, that's what confused me!

No problem. I knew what you meant regarding different opinions. While some use heat lamps I won't try to change their opinion, but I always suggest belly heat devices to those just starting out. Heating pads, flexwatt tape, and other sources of belly heat allow one part of your tank or enclosure to have heat while the other side is cooler.
