A young Lavender

I wanted to post pics of this boy, since I have been debating on keeping him or not. I don't keep up with Corns as much as I used to, so I don't really know what to think of him. I'm trying to search for other lav. pics to compare his colors to, as he seems to really have good colors to me. He's last year's baby.

Thanks for looking.

It is a very nice corn. Are you sure it is a Lavender? I have never ever seen a Lavender with yellow. Ghosts on the other hand do have lot's of yellow on their chins and noses.

I think it may be a VERY nice pastel ghost. I've never seen that much yellow on a lavender either. The few times I've seen a touch of yellow on a lav, it wasn't this shade. But I have to admit that without the yellow, it sure would look like a lav. Who knows?

I think there is some anery A in :shrugs:

so my vote is anery lavender, nice snake

Well I think that is gorgeous!!! If its not a pure Ghost...its a Ghost Lavender, one or the other :shrugs:

If he were a lavender, wouldn't he have ruby or dark eyes? I'm voting with Dean.

It looks like it has a ruby pupil in a blue iris. I've seen these eyes on some ghosts... but I've also seen them on just about every anery-lavender. Big help, eh? ;)

Well, I closely studied all of (lavender) Lila's pics, and her eyes are very dark blue, with very dark ruby pupils. It's only in direct sunlight that the irises become noticeable, when her pupils are quite contracted.

I definitly agree on the eyes regarding anery-lavenders. All of mine have a blue-ish eye w/dark ruby center.

What is an anery-lavender? Offspring of an anery x lavender? Then het for both?? Never heard of it.

Nanci

But I see in Morph Guide (2006, 2007 is in the other room) that in an anery lav cross, masking is known or suspected, and a combination of both traits results in expression of only one.

An anery lavender is homozygous for both anery A and lavender. (pics below)

I don't have any opinions on what your boy is, but he's VERY unique-looking, and VERY pretty. I'm sure you wouldn't have any trouble selling him if that's what you decide to do!

Here's Valerie, my '04 anery-lav. Most of the anery-lavs I've seen look very much like a lot of straight lavs, so I can see how it is suspected that lav fully masks anery. However, they never seem to have the peachy tones that you see on straight lavs, and they always seem to have the very striking ruby in blue eyes.

That is singly the most beautiful snake I have EVER seen! I vote for Lavender Ghost.

Wow, lots of replies! Thanks for all of them. Makes me wonder what he really is then. I need to get to the breeder and see what the parents look like, since I have no idea, I was just going on what he called it. I traded a normal Anery that I produced for it, so I guess I did pretty good on it. Oh yeah, now I am really confused on what to consider him untill we can all agree:)

Here's a shot of his head, not much help though.

:shrugs: IDK breed'em to a ghost and/or a Hypo Lavender to get some good results. If he is a Ghost Lavender, I sure as hell hope my '07 Ghost lavender grows to look like that!

Heres a baby shot of the ghost lavender from a week ago, idk if you traded your boy as a baby or not?

I may be weird, but when I first saw the pics of the snake in question, I immediately thought phantom. :shrugs:

Well if you want, I'll take him off your hands and test him out for you. ;)

Ha ha, I had him for sale locally for cheap, VERY cheap, and couldn't get a bite on him! I think I am going to hang onto him and get me something to put him with. I have a snow that I produced two years ago that a family member has as a pet, might have to get that one sexed and see. What does everyone think I should get for him, a lav, hypo lav, or ghost, ghost/lav?? This just makes the whole thing more difficult now, as I planned on getting out of these guys altogether.

Now the quest begins for a breedable female.....

Thanks for all the replies though!
