Does this set-up look right?

So, while I have attempt to raise 2 clutches from our snakes in the past, they both died before hatching. I want to make sure the set-up is right for their third clutch so we can get some babies finally.

Jill (the female) laid about 25 eggs last night/this morning. We just removed them, but while we were moving her they jostled. I couldn't tell what was up and what was down for them, but I did my best. Should they be okay since its early?

Incubator is at 82 F, humidity says its like 62 but the eggs are in a sealed container inside, so the humidity should be higher in that. Used moistened vermiculite (no water drips out when you squeeze it).

Also, do most of these eggs look infertile? They are so small and darker than the two large, white ones. Her past clutches were the same way, a couple large, white eggs and the rest were small and dark and squishy.

Thanks in advance!

I've looked up some pictures and most of the eggs look like "slugs". Would you guys agree? I wonder why she lays so many infertile eggs each year.

Most of them do look like slugs.

It could be the male isn't very fertile, or not enough pairings and at the wrong time, etc.

Thanks for the response!

Okay, that's what I was thinking. The male (Jack) is getting up there somewhat in age and has always been a little slow. We've never actually seen them breed, but he sure does stop eating and pace a lot during the breeding season. They were together twice for a number of days (her being with him stops his non-stop pacing).

The vermiculite smells really strong and almost like chemicals in the incubator. It doesn't smell like that when its in the nest boxes in the cages (assuming better ventilation). Is that normal? Is it bad for the eggs?
