Newbie Here! :3

Hi all!

This is my first time on CornSnakes, I hope to learn a lot :3~

I've had snakes/reptiles/odd pets since I was a kid, and I have one 6 year old corn snake. It's been a while since I've checked out what's new in the husbandry department, like bioactive substrates and all that jazz, so I wanted to see what everyone is doing nowadays to keep their noodles happy

Thank you all!

-Kate

Welcome to the forum. I wouldn't worry about catching up on husbandry. Snakes are being raised today in much the same way as they were many years ago. If there was any one advancement I welcomed it was in the area of heat control.

Ty Patmart and Twolunger!

I've heard of the switch from red night heat lights to ceramic heat emitters, as reptiles apparently have a more complex sense of color as previously understood! Very neat :3~

Right, red lights are no longer used. Most of us here in the US use some form of undertank heating. I recently found these heat pads that I really like:

And I recommend this Hydrofarm Jumpstart thermostat (unless you need or want something fancier):
