BehaviorGeneral topics or questions concerning the way your cornsnake may be acting.
I do the same thing, Zeina. When I first got my corn, I used a feeding box and fed with tongs. Afterward, I reached in and pulled him out. After 3-4 feedings, he lunged at me when I went in to pull him out. I jerked back really quickly. He didn't even bite me, just lunged. After that, I gently dump him from the feeding box directly into the cage. I don't want to risk a bite or stress to the snake because I'm a flincher.
I think the only concern is if the tiny red spots were on you or the snakes mouth. Sometimes when a snake bites a person they lose teeth, and infection is a potential issue. I've never seen a snake get an infection from this, but I have read about it. When you are bitten, if possible, try not to pull whatever was bitten from the snakes mouth, but instead to convince it to let go.
I read that too, but there didn't seem to be anything left behind in the bite. She let go the moment I flinched. Because before convincing her to let go, I have to convince myself not to flinch. Tough job for someone like me!!!
I have 2 that bite me regularly and I STILL flinch lol...I really can't get myself to stop but I don't fling my hand away anymore so there's no worry about airborne snakes lol.
