What To Do About AJ

People on Facebook are aggravating me. One wants me to see another vet that is a reptile expert when my vet is. Trying to do a culture would do more harm to AJ with a lung wash or even kill him. The Fortaz isn't working but I am supposed to continue till the 26th of next month. AJ is active he eats, poops, and sheds. My specialist was alerted that there hasn't been any improvement or change. I don't know if I should continue the 27 day treatment and then bring him in or stop treatment and call this week please help

How do you know? Just because you can't tell a difference doesn't mean it's not working.

My God! You mean another 6 weeks? LOL. How about you give the drugs time to do their job? What if you stopped the treatments right now, and it was the treatment 5 weeks from now that did the trick? Sometimes people are given drugs to take for a month, but after a week they feel better and so they stop taking them. This is the worst thing you can do. There is a reason Doctors tell you to take all the drugs until they are gone, even if you "Think" you no longer need them.

27 day treatment? You just stated above that the treatments are to continue until the 26th of next month. That's about 6 more weeks, plus the treatments you've already been doing. I really don't understand this common core math, how do you get 27 days out of this? Yes, I can see why the folks on Facebook are annoying you.

Look, it's your snake. Do what you want. But if you're not willing to take suggestions or doctors advice, and all you want to do is argue with folks about stuff, then you probably shouldn't be going around asking for help or advice when it's already obvious you're not going to take it.

Karl: Fortaz is injected every other day, so that's how it is a 27 *day* treatment, spread over 6+ weeks.

SerpentLady: Cultures aren't done with lung washes. They're done with a swab of the glottis.
Snakes have slow metabolisms and thus slow immune systems. They don't get better quickly the way mammals do. Keep giving the fortaz, but also get that culture done so you can be sure you're on the right medicine.

Shiari, If you will take a moment to research this person a little bit:

on 5/24/17 she posted she was on day 6 of Fortaz. Today is 6/10/17, and she stated it goes until the 26th of next month.

She obviously has more than 1 snake and they are always injured, ill or in some type of crisis.

On 11/21/15 she posted Blood Red making clicking noises.
On 11/22/15 she posted No pooping after eating
On 9/15/2016 she posted Albino acting weird
On 2/13/2017 she asked is this regurge or poop
On 3/20/2017 she posted young corn snake SOS
On 3/23/2017 She posted the first problem with this particular snake in question
On 3/30/2017 She posted Respiratory infection or Shed
On 5/15/2017 She posted Fortaz injections and RI
On 5/24/2017 She posted How Successful Is Fortaz in Getting Rid Of RI
On 6/1/2017 She posted Very low humidity
On 6/2/2017 She posted SOS 6 year old adult female won't eat
And today she posted this thread.

She has done the same thing on facebook forums and people offer her suggestions, advice and help but she just wants to argue. Hence her statement about facebook folks starting to aggravate her. She's aggravating them as well.

I feel sorry for her snakes and I feel sorrier for the newbies that see her "5" on her Reputation and seek advice from her.

I've hesitated to say anything, but honestly I've never seen so many SOS posts from a single person.

My corn snake that I recently got has 3 bacterial pathogens. The fortaz took care of two of them and we're battling the very stubborn third still, so she's still making noise.

GO TO THE VET. DO NOT TAKE AS GOSPEL NON-VETS ON THE INTERNET.

As a vet tech, I am telling you TO GO TO THE VET AND DO A CULTURE.

She is still making noise. And she is eating just fine. Her third bacteria is just very hard and nasty to treat. We do not know what is up with yours. That is why you need to go to the vet and have a culture done.
