question about cypress mulch and reptisoil

Hi I bought a bag of cypress mulch and reptisoil as,a substrate when I bought my corn snake cause I didn't know what I was doing I stored it on the bag it came from I put a chip clip to close it I'm getting a ball python on Sunday I like to use that is it safe to use it? All I'm worried is mites or other vermin that has been born thereby don't see any mold.

Some people say the Cypress mulch they purchased contained mites. Their solution was to bake the mulch to kill the vermin. I have read that baking at 250 degrees for 20 minutes is sufficient, but others say 350 degrees for 1 hour. I have also read that putting the mulch in the freezer for a few days kills vermin. Depending upon the company selling the Cypress, some mulches contain a small amount of other woods, including Cedar. The Cypress sold in pet shops is usually 100% Cypress and better quality, but check the label.
