They are from South America. They were very popular years ago, were very hard to find for 5-7 years and are now making a come back in the last year or so.
 
My son had a trio among his other hognose snakes, but it was difficult selling the hatchlings. There wasn't a huge following, since there were so many other tri-color snakes available, and Hondurans were becoming more popular. I seem to remember that it was a bit harder getting the hatchlings eating. Anyway, I see them available online now, but they are more costly than other hognose.
