Kraft Paper Substrate?

I was thinking that kraft paper (the brown Paper- bag like stuff) might work as well as newspaper or paper towel and I was just wondering if anyone had tried this?

Yes...

I use the 60lb indented kraft paper and I love it. It doesn't seem to stink as bad as newspaper. I get it from a national shipping supply company who has a warehouse here in Dallas, TX (this way I can pick it up and don't have to pay shipping). I get 18" rolls that are 360' long for $14.00 each.

What I like best about it is that you don't have to have multiple layers, you can cut the sheets to fit the bottom of the cage and just use one layer.

I don't know if the regular kraft paper would work as well as the indented (the indented paper is the same one that is sold on KS for 3X as much). Next time I go and pick some up, I will have to try a roll of the regular kraft paper.

what is indented kraft paper? I have access to shipping supplies as i work in a mailing center- so kraft would work good for me.

It is just kraft paper, but it is indented (how, I don't know). They use if for filler in shipping boxes. Because of this, I feel it absorbs better as well as giving the snakes some traction and something to rub against when shedding. It isn't rough, it just has some texture.

Attached is a picture of one of my cages.
