Thanks Alicia! I just googled predatory flatworm & voila, there it was! Visiting South Carolina .... we don't have things like that at home in Massachusetts ... at least not on MY sidewalk!
 
Well, apparently, they are an invasive species from Asia. They only eat earthworms & I've read they can regenerate from small pieces. Iggggggg
