they love tight fitting places. Plus, he's probably a goofball. Most corn snakes are. Mine is just downright silly and will crawl into any nook or cranny he can find, and then stick his head out and look at me.
The picture I'm enclosing is about a year old now, but he sat like that for about an hour before I finally had to coax him out.
Id say its normal, one of my corns Jarvis like to come out the viv and into my draws (my sock draw) and i find him slithering round inside hes a funny nut lol
