How does Dante measure up?

So since I have had Dante I have been measuring him once a month and marking his progress. Knowing that every snake grows at different rates, and realizing that measuring length isn't ideal (getting a scale soon) I was wondering how his growth compares to other hatchlings. Currently he is averaging 2 inches per month. here are the measurements:

Dec 11.5"
Jan 13.5"
Feb 16"
(I haven't measured yet this month)
I'm not sure if this is fairly slow growth or faster growth compared to others. So how do your snakes measure up?

P.S not meaning to start a Pi$$ing match, just curious

What is it with guys and measurments?

As long as he's growing I'll say everything looks good, although I cant compare him with other hatchlings here (never recorded or really even attempted to take measurments). I've noticed that growth isnt steady, some months they take off (especially in the spring), while some they dont seem to grow much.

I prefer to weigh mine...it is just easier...

I bought Sammi Snake on 12/20/06, she weighed 18 grams...
1/23/07-25g
2/14/07-33g
3/4/07-50g

She is currently blue, so when she sheds I will weigh her again...

Oh, and...FWIW...2/14 was her first fuzzy...

Ok so I finally got a scale, Dante is 28 grams. I was expecting him to be much heaver. Is 28 grams on the light side for a 16-18 inch corn? On average I mean, I know they are all different.

Heh heh. I'm a girl and I like to measure, too. Only, I'm more mass-conscious than length-conscious. (Could be because I'm vertically challenged but not massively challenged, unfortunately! LOL!) I like to make pretty growth curves from my mass data. Mass data are SO much easier to collect, that I gave up on length data long ago. But, I've got a bunch of '06s that I could get length data on for comparison. If I have time this weekend, I'll do so and report back.

Looking back through my records, I just happened to take a length measurement at the same time as a weight measurement for Sammi Snake...

On 1/23, she was 19" long and weighed 25grams.

So it seems as though Dante is pretty close to Sammi Snake in terms of length to weight ratio...for whatever that is worth to you...

I think it really depends on when you got the snake, as breeders seem to feed a maintenance diet.

My 06 female Okeetee from Kathy Love, which is a voracious eater, is 95 grams. But I got her in July.

My 06 Blizzard female is about 65 grams, got her in October at the NARBC show.

Both are fed homegrown mice or rats or now African Soft Furred rats as well, all cut several times on the back. They were fed every 4 days on pinkies, every 5 days on fuzzies, and now every 6 days on hoppers. 1 prey item per feeding, though I weigh the food so I can always feed the exact size and gradually move them up rather than jumping from a small size to a much larger.

I got Dante in December, I'm not sure exactly how old he was but he was only about 11 inches so probably a late 06. He is eating one small fuzzy every five days, I am about to move up to full size fuzzys now.

I weighed Dante yesterday and he jumped 14 grams this month up to 36 grams now and 21". I guess hes having a growth spurt.
