My 6 year-old's first snake

My son, Lincoln, absolutely LOVES reptiles. So, after much convincing, my wife gave me the green light to get him a corn snake. And VERY shortly after that, I convinced her to let me share this experience with our son by getting one for myself as well. She's never been a big fan of snakes, but I'm hoping the docile nature of these beautiful creatures will help change her mind. I've always loved snakes and used to keep several. So while this isn't exactly new to me, I've been out of the game for a while, and probably didn't exactly "do it right" the first time around (I was much younger). Anyway... Here's Lincoln's pretty little amel baby girl (we believe), 'Lizzy'...

Cherish the time you will spend with your son handling the corns. Kids grow up fast. One of my sons is afraid of snakes and the other had over 600-700 breeders at one time. LOL.

Oh I know how fast they grow. He's the youngest of four. My oldest is serving in the US Army over in South Korea. Seems like yesterday my oldest was Lincoln's age...

600-700?! Wow! That's just a few too many snakes... for my wife, anyway... ;-)

My youngest recently retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant after 24 years. That will make you feel your age.

It took all day to view all my oldest son's snakes. Unfortunately, he sold his collection when he moved to Florida. I keep offering him some of my corns, since he gave me any of his that I wanted, but he refuses. He said he doesn't want to give up his freedom. He said after worrying about eggs, hatches, rodents, and sales for over 20 years, enough is enough.
