Gopher snake?

My mom rescued this little guy off of a busy retail driveway and brought it home for pics. She called me to ask me if I wanted it as a pet, but I told her no and that it would be best served being turned loose in a safer location.

I think it's a gopher snake, but I wanted to consult your collective herp-knowledge. Caught in Boise, ID.
