not allowed banners?

how come the IMG code is turned off in the signature bit of the edit options?
i think this forum would be much better if members had snake banners under their messeges and i love to make em.

Those are cool but it probably takes up too much space on the server if everybody had them.

I decided it would be way too distracting having images in the signature areas. I've been futilely trying to remind people to limit the text in that area to no more than 4 lines, but it's a tough battle.

The whole idea of this forum is to be able to read the messages that people post on it. If everyone had their signature areas filled with their life histories and images of everything under the sun, it might get a little difficult to figure out where the heck the messages actually are.

Yeah, some boards like that that I go to are very confusing and distracting.

I agree they are very distracting. I always find myself having to take a second look to find out where the advertising/personal expression starts and the message stops. I tend to avoid boards that use them.

Sig pics are soo distracting from the actual text posted, and they just get bigger and bigger...! And if you've got a "Sunday driver" connection like mine, pages take yonks to load
