he ate last week no problem, always been a voracious eater. on monday i tried to feed him and he refused to eat. i put him back in his viv and he didnt climb up into his branch like he always does. instead he just crawled into one of the corners of his viv and laid there. the next morning he was in the same position. so i took him out and put him on papertowels in his feeding tub. just to see if he had mites or something....his skin was all wrinkly so i thought maybe he was having a bad shed so i put a humid hide in there with him too.
wednesday morning he wasnt active at all, he wouldnt even flicker his tongue. i noticed that he had a weird lump about 2 inches from his head down his neck. it wasnt hard. so i was going to take him to the vet, i thought maybe he had a tumor. he didnt make it to the vet. he died yesterday morning. poor little guy. wasnt much we could do for him. it was the lump that probably killed him. it grew quickly and blocked his throat. weirdest thing. i didnt know snakes could get tumors.
 
How tragic.. poor little guy. Very sorry for your loss.

Readiing about these unexpected deaths always make me sad... will be giving my snakes an extra big 'hug' when I get home. You just never know.
 
thanks guys. it just sucks, he went really quick. i worry that maybe i didnt do something right. but the lump wasnt visible until yesterday and thats when he died. he didnt have any kinks or anything. but he was really young and only about 18 inches long. so it wouldnt have taken a very large growth to cause a problem. :cry:
and it really sucks because i was bummed because of steve irwin's unexpected death and now i'm bummed again because Guinness died...

well...theres a reptile expo this weekend. my gf is urging me to go and see if i can get another. it's repticon, but there are supposed to be some decent breeders there. i was planning to go anyway to see what they have.
