I have read that pinks are less susceptible to oxygen deprivation than older mice, because they can experience lower oxygen in the nest, and are adapted to that, which is why they take longer to kill with CO2. FWIW.

Note any mammal what goes into hypothermia cause the system to slow down and go to sleep to conserve energy, then the body shuts down (ie. Dies) (from my husband who is a biology teacher).
