Here are my two spider critters. The handsome male, top pic, is a Chaco golden knee (Grammostola Pulchrapes) and the pretty female is an Arizona blonde (Aphonopelma Chalcodes).

Your chalcodes is beautiful. Mine is only 1/4" or so, doesn't seem to grow even though it molts
 
Those particular species can be handled but it really comes down to the individual T. Some are very docile, some are much more feisty.
While a bite from either isn't dangerous, they are painful.
