magick-bears,
they are naturally from wet areas. They like being kept on moss. (Heck a lot of asian rat snakes like to be on wet land...lol..)
So these should be kept in rubbermaids with moss. Their natural range are mainly in China, but some of them can be found in Korea and Russia. I got all mine in China since its easier for me to get them.
Well I guess luck was with me cause once I got them, I tested them on pinkies and most of them took live pinkies with no problems at all. So once they were on pinkies its not that hard switching them from live to f/t. So right now most are on f/t pinkies. I handled a couple of them before and didn't notice any of them musking at me. So I guess the answer is no...they don't musk. (Well I am sure that they do..but just that mine never did..)
Oh I agree that feeding fish isn't the best thing. Except for the parasite things, a pure fish diet isn't good for their health too. Fish carries a special oil (forgot the name) which could cause the snake's liver to mal function...so that is why I don't feed pure fish unless of course they're sea snakes or pure fish eating snakes.
MegF,
Well its going to hard offering f/t fish cause most of them like the movement on the fish. Thus eating it. But with dead fish floating on the water bowl.......I don't think that they'll be eating that....or at least I haven't seen a garter eat a f/t fish before...but I have limited experience with garters...
