You are right with regards to gay marriage. I am content to wait that one out. However, ending Don't Ask, Don't Tell discrimination requires only his signature....... how much good would that signature do for the infinitessimally small amount of time it would take??

Using your mind would be to realize that we have to see Obama's term through, and rather than trying to start some forum march, some would be better suited arming themselves with a plan to inspire people to elect differently in the next election.
AGREED - EXCEPT that the forum march IS the beginning of a plan to inspire people to vote differently in the next election, lol!
Since he IS our President for the next (almost) 4 years, I am always looking for anything he does that I can support. If he fulfills his promises to the gay community, I will be among the first to congratulate him!
I didn't find a lot to support about Bush, either. But there were a few things, and I was just as outspoken in those things I do support as those I don't. That is the only way to be objective, and to try to move towards your goals, whatever they are.
David - if you like, or are thinking about, teaching, maybe you should consider teaching science at a community college. Some of the really bad high school goof offs are gone by then, and maybe you will get a chance to teach some of the elective science courses, instead of mandatory ones. It is nice to have students because they WANT to be there instead of because they HAVE to be there. And, from the research / conversations I have had, it seems that there is less state micromanagement at the community college level than high school. OTOH, it seems that 4 year universities often have more focus on graduate students, publishing, research, and raising grant money, than on actually teaching undergraduate students. Community colleges often have smaller classes actually taught by professors, instead of grad students. That is why community college seems more interesting to me, if I were to teach.
Maybe some real, actual, teachers can confirm or deny my feelings about how the system works.

If you are correct, and that is all it takes, then I don't know what he is waiting for. Maybe there is more to it than that? Probably has to do with some intricate, back room deal - wish I knew the answer.

Typical of a liberal to see a term only as racial. The definition says nothing about race and lynchings have been performed on and by every race, creed and color throughout history around the world:
Quote:
Noun 1. lynching - putting a person to death by mob action without due process of law

Socialist/communist leaders that are "voted" into power have a tendency to remain there. We often call them dictators. Sometimes, the only way to get rid of them is to kill them without due process of law. The fact that Obama is black was only an added bonus to my comment, but not the reason behind it. And in my personal opinion, I don't classify Obama with African Americans (or whatever the current politically correct term is for today). I place him with the Al Qaeda terrorists.
There are always 2 sides to everything. It all depends upon which side is the "winner". To some, our founding fathers are heroes. To others, they are traitors. It may come to pass that what I have posted on this forum will lead to my execution. Some will consider it due justice for a traitor. Some will consider it a travesty of justice. None of that matters to me. What DOES matter is how God judges my words and my actions, and I am confident in what that judgment will be.

Thank you for the formula for producing my very own Kjun; I was going to shreik "Hybrid", but evidently you premonitionalized that. Now cheap old me won't have to pay the shipping. Yer perdy swell in my book, Buster.

I don't get why gays love Clinton. After saying he'd support gay marriage, and then enacting "Dont Ask, Don't Tell", aka "Get Your Butts Back In The Closet and Quiet Down". Whether equal rights for all (gay marriage) is enacted or not will be interesting to see. I don't believe that what someone does in the privacy of their own home for fifteen minutes once a month should be what defines WHO they are. Of course, there are many whom say "closet fag" if a gay person isn't lispy or flamboyant. I've never seen or heard of a "Str8 Pride Parade". Or a Million Caucasians March on Washington. Whatever. Tolerance is a virtue, so has been inferred to me by persons with their own agendas.
It is interesting how tolerance is something to preach about, until someone comes along who challenges the opinion of the person doing the preaching, and then it's time to bring out the big guns.
Personally, I've never had low self esteem enough to feel a need to Learn to Act one way or another. I am who I am, what I am is irrelevant in the big picture. Let people marry whomever they want to. I'm not sleeping with most of them anyways. Well, maybe once or twice to expand my horizons. Okay, 3 times. But getting back to Clinton, if he'd enacted gay Marriage, then another president would have overturned it. So by not allowing it, another president can overturn it. Is it the way of the legal system? Can an overturned law be re-revoked? I don't know; I'm kinda dim like that. Perhaps it was for the best, in the big picture. Equal rights for all that a president agrees with. Sort of gets back to that Republicrat statement. Dang, forgot to make the animated fornicating panda gif. Maybe next go-round.

Of course one of his very first, most important, moves while in office was the delaying of the switch to digital cable. Yeeeehaaaw!!! That was swell.

Haha! That digital TV thing really annoyed me. Seemed like a lot of time and money was spent on something of little REAL importance. I love my TV as much as anyone, but I think I would have more interest in FIRST fixing just about ANY of the other topics we have been discussing lately, and let people figure out how to get their own digital signal, if need be. In terms of importance, putting his sig on the paper that revoked Don't ask, don't tell would have been a much better use of his time, IMO.

Couple things... first off, "fag" is a word that is generally considered offensive and not something one likes to hear in polite conversation. Something akin to the n-word. You will hear some gay people use it for much the same reasons that you will hear some African American people use the n-word... to take control of the word, take ownership of it, so that it cannot be used to hurt them. My personal feeling on that is that we should not use the word because doing so "makes it okay."
As for the rest of your comments... much of what you mention has to do with community. If you desire to understand it better, we do have a closed social group here where, from time to time, we discuss issues affecting the gay community and our personal lives as well. You can look us up... we are GLBT Herpers.
