Miscellaneous Corn Snake DiscussionsThis is a "none of the above" forum. All posts should still be related to cornsnakes in one form or another, but some slight off topic posting is fine.
I just bought my first car so I don't have much money. All of a sudden, my snake just had a growth sprit and he grew out of all of his hiding places and even ones that i bought ahead of time for when he gets bigger. he's 41 inches and about 3 maybe 4 pencils thick. since i dont have money, i need to make him a hiding spot where he can fit but make it out of things i'd find around my house or something very cheap-until i have money to get him something better. i know he'll get stressed if i dont get him something soon. so any help would be great! thanks
Who needs expensive hide boxes? My snakes don't know the difference between an old box and an expensive, fancy hide. I use old frozen food boxes, empty cereal boxes, or whatever else I can salvage out of the recycle bin.
WHAT I DID IS CUT A JAR OF FOLDERES IN HALF. THEN FLIPPED THE BOTTOM UPSIDEDOWN AND CUT A WHOLE IN THE SIDE. I GLUED THE TWO PEICES BACK TOGETHER AND PUT WATER IN TE TOP SO IT ACTS AS A WATER DISH AND A HIDE. uSE HOTGLUE AROUND THE SHARP EDGES. OR IF YOU USE ASPEN BEDDING YOUR CORN COULD JUST BURROW THATS WHAT MY UPPER KEYS DOES.
Nova if I understand you correctly, you are using a coffecan as a water dish. I don't know about that since the can is tin or steel and will rust and add metal to the water. This probably isn't healthy for your snake. Good idea though making the hide in the bottom.
SORRY I WAS IN A RUSH SINCE I WAS AT WORK. i DIDNT EXPLAIN THAT I DIDNT PUT THE WATER IN THE CAN ITSELF, I PUT THE EXISTING DISH IN IT, JUST TO SAVE SPACE.
