I haven't downloaded my pics from the real camera. But there aren't that many. So here are some herps from Union County, Illinois. We found these two, a crayfish and a Northern Slimy Salamander, near the cabin we rented.
The first night we has a tornado warning and ate dinner and drank wine in the basement of our cabin. We emerged later to sit in the hot tub and watch lightning in the distance. The next day was chilly, but productive!
We ate dinner at a fabulous Chinese restaurant, Hunan. The evening turned exciting when Rich's debit card was declined! (Daily limit BS...) I didn't have a card with me. My dinner was amazing though. It was a soup of pork, scallops, tiny clams, squid and shrimp, with a few vegetables, noodles and rice, called Jam Bone. It was medium spicy- enough to make my nose run!
The next day we stopped at a winery. It's the Shawnee Hills AVA, with 13 wineries right there. We just didn't have enough time! I flew to OH, do I had to leave a case of Illinois native wine at Rich's house. :-(
We didn't find as many herps Saturday, though it was warmer.
WOW, love the pics. Nanci.......thanks for sharing.
Looks like a really fun time. Love the cabin and the pic. of the tiny newt !!
Those wineries can be dangerous. The wife and I went to one in North Carolina (Duplin Winery) on one of our trips last year.
Took the tour and did the tasting. We wobble out of there with a bunch of their wines and other goodies they offer.
Seeing you had to leave a case behind, I'm guessing Rich will be doing pretty good for a while.......:sidestep:oke:
