Miscellaneous Corn Snake DiscussionsThis is a "none of the above" forum. All posts should still be related to cornsnakes in one form or another, but some slight off topic posting is fine.
Mine didn't constrict until the first time it saw a fuzzy - then BAM! Yours may be the same if the 'zombie dance' doesn't work I'd just leave him to do his thing and see what happens in future.
He's already at small adults and he won't constrict... oh well, i'd just like a little show, it really doesn't matter if he does or not. I was just curious as to why he didn't but thank you all for helping!
If you really want a show, you should look into a Florida kingsnake. My young and adults will fly out of the cage with an open mouth at anything that moves. When the grab the mouse or rat on the end of the forceps, they look like a coiled spring wrapped around it.
HAHA, that would be cool, i've been thinking about getting another snake and i've narrowed it down to 3 morphs of the corn snake, Abbott's Okeetee, Creamsicle, or Miami... tough decision from here
My '09 corn snake never constricts and she is on hoppers. I tried the zombie dance with her before and she just slithered up to it with her mouth open trying to grab it. Then she stops and just looks at me like, "Just give it to me already!" However my '10 baby is feisty! She strikes the pinkie as soon as she sees it and constricts. The constriction doesn't usually last long though. I think she figures out that it is already dead. If I wiggle the mouse, she will constrict harder and longer.
My two '09 Cali Kingsnake are a whole other story. They will strike and constrict every time. It doesn't even have to be a food item. Sometimes it's my hand or arm. Sometimes they get get intent on an object and bite it. Such as a new computer mouse I had laying on my bed once. They are a mystery to me.
