I collected some toad eggs last night from a vernal pool as they were being laid. I took them home and popped them under the microscope to watch them divide. Nature is just amazing!

Yes! I'm having so much fun with these guys. This first picture below is the Blastula stage (multicellular), the second one shows the Yolk Plug and the third is the neural tube (spine) development.

Below are some pictures of them as they elongate and absorb their yolk sac. They presently are in what I like to call the Sperm-toad stage.

Oh my gosh, these are so cute!!! I can't wait to see the little babies!! Toadpoles!!
