• Hello!

Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

Reports and Complaints Against Rules Violators

Site Rules:

There are a few "unwritten rules" as well. Antagonising a moderator or admin is one of them.

Site rules apply to the regular forums and to chat and private messages. The owners of the private forums may moderate them as they see fit, but hopefully they will choose to generally observe the site rules.

Reports and complaints against other members for violations of site rules should be handled according to where the offending material is posted:

1. Forum Posts: To report violations of site rules in a member's post, click on the red triangle beneath the user's profile info (see attached screen-capture below).

2. Chat: To report violations of site rules in Chat, send a PM to the moderators (Susan; mbdorfer; MohrSnakes; Roy Munson) outlining the complaint. Include a chat log or a screen-capture of the offending chat posts. The mod team can't act appropriately without evidence that site rules were broken.

3. PM: To report violations of site rules in PMs, forward the PM in which the site rules were violated to the moderators. Outline the complaint clearly in the first lines of the PM.

Note: Before submitting a report or complaint concerning the violation of site rules, it would be prudent to make sure that the offending member wasn't responding to your own violation of site rules. If you call someone a fool, and he replies that you're a moron, submitting a report for a name-calling violation wouldn't be wise.

I had to place a copy of this in the General Chit-Chat forum as a reminder to be certain that the posts you are reporting actually need to be reported. This forum is fairy lenient when it comes to members being able to speak their minds. The mods only get involved if profanity starts getting thrown around, or if members really start personally flaming other members. But as Dean said, if you call someone an idiot, and they come back calling you a moron, you deserved it.

This seems to be as good as any of the "rules" threads to bump...

I've been seeing an increase in some violations, specifically non-Contributing members posting For Sale ads. Disguising your ad in a thread bemoaning the fact that you can't keep your snake for some reason and hoping someone will take pity and give it a good home (for a small fee) is not fooling anyone and will be treated exactly like the ones who blatantly post their ads. You get an immediate 3-day banning from this site.

Also, I'm having to make those PMs about signature lengths again. There is a 4-line limit that includes spaces. We allow some slack because of the difference in computer monitors and how some posts are viewed, but obvious excesses need to be fixed.

I'm hoping just bumping this thread and similar ones will be enough for awhile.

That's a good thing, IMO. Forums that are ruled with an iron fist don't seem to do as well. And the openness of this forum allows us to form close friendships, or at least deeper understandings of those we will never agree with!!

Very true Nanci! I have come to terms with this, and I really do enjoy the freedom of this site. I do not belong to any other forums, but why would I want to when this one is so great.

I want to help keep this site great, too. I volunteer to ship up some fire ants, honey and rope as persuaders.

What...the large colony set up at the end of my front porch walk-way isn't good enough for you?! ;) And if you ask some on this forum, I should have a good supply of rope already in my garage, some probably knotted and well broken in! :sidestep:
