Shedding?

I am new to owning a corn snake I rescued him/her as a silly neighbour was throwing him/her away. I have a viv I purchased and heat mat etc just he's turned really dull and has cloudy eyes and has been this way for a week is this normal? They told me he is about 4 years old.

Hi! Your snakey is beautiful, you're so amazing for rescuing him/her.

I have a very similar colored corn, Tambi, and yes, those are the tell tale signs of when your corn is shedding! You'll also notice that he/she will hide away for a few days. Tambi usually hides in tunnels under his substrate when he's shedding.
But soon she'll leave you a nice looking shed and all will be back to normal!

Best regards,
Melissa

Thank you so much I've been worried about Etkins. Hopefully back to himself soon, not sure how to sex a snake but can't see that it matters as he's not being used to breed
Do they go off their food when shedding?
Thanks
Jo x

Yes! It is important not to feed them during their shedding process, as to they might not be able to digest properly. So if you need to skip a feed, go ahead!

As far as sexing a corn, I think it's about the tapering of the tail. You could probably find some useful info online about how to do it properly hehe. My co-mommy and I tried to sex Tambi and weren't sure so we are just assuming he is a boy.

Good luck!

You can wait until he sheds! Once that skin is off you will be able to feed him.
Don't worry! You just want to take care of Etkins. Being informed will help
