XY chromosomes in boas and pythons

This is only tangentially related to corn snakes, but I have made the argument elsewhere that boas and pythons have XY chromosomes, not ZW like other snakes including corn snakes. Looks like I have been vindicated! Importantly, this fully explains the inheritance pattern of the banana mutation in ball pythons.

It's behind a paywall so you can only read the main findings and an abstract, but it's good enough for the layperson.
